About
Amongst the themes of this cohort are the environment, social media vs hand engagement with craft and sharing narratives of the everyday. These are embodied by unpredictable or experimental methods which translate images in surprising ways. Observations of the natural world inform aspects of these practices. Making non-toxic photochemical processes and the need to recycle and value resources is a theme in the group. Many people are concerned with the viral image, how images move through time, space and destabilise memory and a sense of place. Many works express the importance of a plurality of languages and identities, from work to overcome the marginalisation of disability rights to artists versus exploring silenced narratives of migration, gender and sexuality.
