Yike Zhong

About

Yike is an interdisciplinary designer with a keen interest in body and sensory interactions. He thinks design serves as a means to critically examine the world and uncover answers through the creation of thought-provoking sparks. Now Yike not only wants to act as a designer but also tries to work like a director to tell stories.

The project “In Proprio” is a Kinesthetic interactive installation.

In the digital era, the integration of digital platforms into our lives has made them extensions of our bodies. However, this reliance can lead to attraction, addiction, and a loss of bodily awareness. Yike explores human-computer interactions to reawaken this awareness and encourage a reevaluation of physical abilities. These interactive experiences enhance exercise capacity and concentration and build up a deeper understanding of our physicality.

Statement

Design to explore the conflict, connection, and irrelevant matters between the perceived "body" and the often-neglected body. Recognizing that tools and devices have become an inseparable part of our bodies, see them as an extension to assist communication and help us cope with challenges. Embraces the idea that design is "non-binary", offering multiple options to achieve goals and cater to different needs.

Combining scientific knowledge with art and technology, exploring the creative boundaries of the human body. My design aims to foster a partnership that amplifies our physical potential and enriches our self-perception. By intertwining human proprioception and cybernetics, and embark on a transformative journey towards harmonious coexistence, unlocking new heights of physical and cognitive achievements.
