The profile photo of the designer

Before entering the field of innovation, as an industrial designer, my interest used to focus on the interactive experience between people and objects, how the materials, functions and tech are perceived and interacted with by people. Also, during my experience as a design researcher in the home improvement retail industry, I noticed that the field of user research was also trying to break through the limitation of traditional user research methods and embrace multi-sensory information collection.

For more than a year in IDE life, I focused my research on how the human body's sensory perception, expansion and enhancement can be adapted to different application scenarios and needs in life. I also develop a strong interest in enjoyment, UGC and AIGC.

Brief

Introducing Avavol, the first voice-building system designed exclusively for social VR users. In the vibrant social VR worlds such as VRchat and RecRoom, identities are not confined to a single form—they fluidly shift and evolve. Most social VR enthusiasts possess 2-5 distinct avatars, cherishing the freedom of self-expression. Avavol unveils a realm of unparalleled personal expression and social interaction, revolutionizing auditory experiences within the VR universe. It empowers VR users to construct multiple voices from mere sketches, amplifying their sense of presence and identity. Moreover, it fosters deeper connections and more meaningful relationships with others. Avavol caters to the soaring demand for diverse self-expression and immersive encounters in virtual environments, paving the way for numerous applications including gaming, virtual conferences, social gatherings, and educational platforms.

Avavol consists of four stations, providing specific sound generation and modulation functions for people with different levels, difficulties and richness of sound design needs. Station 1 - the sound resonance generated by the change of avatar body size. Station 2 - the voice fusion of the AI voice library. Station 3 - the parameters mapping between labels and pitch/power/noise modulation Station 4 - Facial expression controlled voices switching and changing
Station 1 provides the ability to generate resonant timbres based on the physical volume of the avatar.

Station 2 provides a voice library and voice fusion. Players can filter favourite voices by tags, or combine different voices to generate a new one.
Station2 Test
At Station 3, players can directly adjust basic parameters such as pitch and filters, as well as modify preset parameter labels.
Station3 Test
At Station 4, players can define how to use different voices based on facial expressions.
