Service Design (MA)

Nicholas (Haochen) Zhou

HiVE examines the growth in more elderly sufferers of HIV. With other underlying health issues associated with age, treatment for HIV becomes more complex. The deep research explores stigmas, the experience of diagnosis and lifestyle issues that adversely affect treatment. The service is a human-based solution around multidisciplinary team care, combining various stakeholders from a patient point of view. "HiVE" provides a toolkit to monitor change, create a contract with the patient and provides a service platform for advice on medication. Video calls between his healthcare professionals is ambitious but the business model to achieve this is linked to insurance costs for medication. Designer would like to develop this for other chronic diseases. The project needs greater integrated with existing healthcare systems and more work on the detail of the experience. Still, it is a brave and ambitious attempt to develop a more human centred approach to healthcare.
