Yujie has always used her life as the starting point for her art, revealing the hidden details of her personal life. Yujie's works are all about the realisation of a sense of self-consciousness.
She pays attention to the fluctuating capacity of self-consciousness and captures keenly the living with the self. She talks about how people experience and try to reconcile their inner selves in the midst of complex social realities and to embrace the power of softness and tolerance. Her work documents the emotional turmoil that is immediate and intimate, but universal. For her, art must be intrinsically connected to her inner life. This process reveals the subtle structure of 'life' and 'self' through self-exploration in intimate spaces.
