Yujie Ji

Using jewelry to express my mother's three different stages of life

Reflecting on the "power of female", I asked myself, who has influenced me the most in my life? There is no doubt that it is my mother, she is not only my mother, my teacher but also my most intimate friend, she uses her own life experience to teach me one vivid lesson after another! She taught me how to love, taught me not to always pin my hope on others. To constantly improve myself, find hope in adversity, and live my wonderful life! My mom's life is like a book, worth reading again and again! Interviews with my mother informed all my work in the project. I integrated her life with my understanding, what happened at each stage, made different samples, and finally turned my mother's "book of life" into physical jewellery, hoping that everyone who wears it can feel the love and power contained in it!

Yujie ji is an artist born in China. She came to London alone to study in 2017. After completing four years of undergraduate menswear at the University of the Arts London, she applied for a cross-professional application and became a Jewellery graduate student at RCA!

Yujie ji hope she can become a storyteller and use her own story combined with Jewellery to speak out for female all over the world!
