Yoon Kyeong Yang(GABI)

Yang yoonkyeong is a London-based artist who specializes in 3D animation, 2D animation, VFX, and projection mapping. She offers live visual and bi-directional visual experiences through a variety of works in other fields and cross-over.

Seoul, South Korea, is one of the most futuristic cities in the world and has been the foundation for her various attempts. Born, educated, and working in Seoul, she has studied and developed a global and general visual language by meeting various audiences around the world, not just for her own people.

A medium that shares my time with you.

After graduating in 2019, she had gone to meet audiences around the world as a video director for a world tour with Korean singers. In addition, in 2020, a web animation called Magic Matches was completed with the support of the Korean Independent Animation Filmmakers Association(KIAFA). Magic Matches was produced as a series, but episodes were organically linked, breaking through the limitations of existing web animations.

Notable works include Magic Matches (2021), The Nose - for Marimba and Piano with video (2018), and Surl - Besides/MV (2021). Surl - Besides is significant in that it breaks away from the existing classical video grammar using vertical frames. She won the Special Mention section at the 2022 Anibar Animation Festival (Peja, Kosovo).

In addition, the project "RAINBOW99 x Yangyoongab Miner's Gems Audiovisual Live Showcase", released in January, was a project mapping created by playing music on the video.

Media artist Yangyoongab is an animator who wants to share time with the audience.

She wants to communicate her own story of the time that is given equally to everyone, and provide her audience with the experience of being in the same space within that time. She also approaches the audience with a performance that combines music and videos on the outer wall of the building, a space where people always stay, to create a new world.

She's a person who plays "With Light and Drawings." Yangyoongab is also a person who has different senses that humans can use and allows each person to travel where they want to go in the same amount of time that they are physically given to them. I would like to study the strengths and weaknesses of each medium through different mediums and use video grammar that can be understood more easily.

At RCA, the dissertation studied the human image pursued by humans based on Dazai Osamu's "Human Disqualification" and incorporated the philosophy underlying it. On what is the "Human Ideal" that humans eventually reach, she summarised the points that were agreed upon until modern times and drew her own conclusions. She studied the emotions and behaviours of humans and conceptualised them to describe the importance of an ordinary day. 

What Happened To Me?(그래서)

Based on the journey so far, this project is a 3D and 2D experiment of the process by which humans can reach their goals using the commonalities between humans and nature. Through this project, she will express the natural ecosystem, which is considered the most important task left in modern times, from the perspective of nature, not the human eye.
