YIFEI DU

Yifei Du is a soft system textile artist from China who works with kinetic installations and interactive products.

During her studies at the Royal College of Art, she observed and created intriguing phenomena from different perspectives. She has developed an interest in the combination of textile design and product design.

When people lack self-awareness, they feel confused and uncertain about themselves and their future. Yifei Du began to think about the connection between artistic healing and people. She is passionate about exploring the interactivity and playfulness of art installations and products, working on product development and improving people's emotions and sense of well-being in their daily lives.

—— What kind of visual and tactile sensations can interactive objects bring to people?

Astrology is an ancient wisdom that can suggest answers to people's lives and satisfy their inner needs. By understanding our strengths, weaknesses, talents and future careers from astrological charts, it reduces the uncertainty people feel about their future. Just like in life, the imaging reflection of a mirror also gives feedback.

The project is divided into two parts. Objects inspired by the characteristics of the 12 signs, in order to bring an interactive experience to people. The other part, observing the blurred shape changes behind the Fresnel lens on the kinetic installation. When you look at it, it is like a visual breath, it calms people and inspires them to think.

The whole process is like a journey, moving from interaction to reflection. People are encouraged to become self-aware in a relaxed and entertaining atmosphere while experiencing the therapeutic nature of art.
