Driven by human curiosity, ideology, and the environmental crisis, humans are constantly looking for alternative places for inhabitation. Current developments in space technology have opened the possibility for humans to move to Mars.

" Mars Phoenix" imagines a speculative scenario where humans have moved to Mars in search of new opportunities. In order to survive the harsh environment of Mars, their bodies have transformed into Cyborgs, a hybrid between human and machine, allowing them to acquire new abilities and protections. The new cyborg community now established on Mars has a unique culture of worship technology. This is a performance with an installation that presents a coming-of-age ceremony in a cyborg community, after this ceremony,18-year-old young humans living under the dome will transform into cyborgs, work and explore outside the dome to take on their responsibilities in the Martian society.

Xiangyu's field of practice is installation, moving image and performance. He likes to use machines and images to conceive post-human society scenarios to explore whether technology will bring human society into a dystopian society.
