Lining Jiang

Lining graduated from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London and went on to study Knitted Textiles at the Royal College of Art. In 2019, she launched her own clothing line, NERLILI, which was well received after only three years. Lining has inventive technical skills and a high aesthetic use of colour in the field of knitting.

Lining has a distinctive style that combines surprising colour, unusual materials, and innovative knitting techniques. Lining uses her own drawing to inspire and inform knitted structures that she investigates using the manual Dubied knitting machine and digital automated Stoll knitting machinery. Yarn exploration gives fresh value to the undervalued nylon fibre, embracing its strong, light-fast synthetic colour, good elasticity, body and bulkiness that it takes on when finished with steaming processes and its high resistance to decay.
