Saltscapes is a furniture series that explores salt as a building material. As global warming increases salt abundance and reduces its cost, it is a viable alternative to harmful construction methods.The project examines the physical, mechanical, and aesthetic properties of salt and its crystallization process. Each furniture piece is meticulously crafted using catenary curves, inspired by Gaudí's technique in modeling La Sagrada Familia. By employing this method, the structure of each furniture piece excels in compression and strength. Saltscapes explores how this fusion can augment the technical properties and aesthetics of salt, ultimately opening new pathways for its future applications.
