Statement

The name of this project is 'Transition'.

Inspired by thinking about abandoned things, it aims to maximize the use of the project site.

It will be a co-working space during the day and a nightclub at night.

[The nightclub not only provides great opportunities for co-workers to socialise after working but also achieve the unique selling point that the co-working space always needed. That's why the combination of nightclub and co-working space.]

The transformation of day and night space functions is achieved through flexible design and isolation.

[Flexible means similar parts can switch and the isolation means completed different parts should be isolated with each other.]

Inspiration
When I exploring Woolwich, I was quite interesting about the old Woolwich Pier, which is abandoned and partly demolished now. Then a thought popped into my mind when I see such a debris: 'When a functionality of sth is no longer needed, people tend to remove the whole thing rather than change it or reuse it to make it suitable for new demandings.' That's a kind of waste I think. I picked up a piece of broken wood from there and tried to give it a new look while keeping the old features.
Site
Site is located in South Woolwich. It used to be a factory producing cables owned by Siemens but these buildings are at risk now and The Faraday Works is repairing them and planning to make it become a diverse community, not only providing housing but also offering jobs and various experience.
Surrounding
I investigate the surrounding area, finding that even if the existing restaurants are included, there are only 4 entertainment venues here. This is not enough for a community whose future is planned to be vibrant.
Building
I intend to use this building(25 Bowater Road) because it is in a prominent position next to the entrance of Bowater Road. Its north side faces the main road and the other side will face the future garden, with a good view.
