Yuxi Xie

Yuqian Xie (Yuxi) is a CMF designer with a background in fashion design. The focus of her work is establishing material strategies in sustainable design, helping to solve and rethink complex challenges and propose solutions. She is specialising in the development of new materials that find potential in unwanted waste objects. She has a strong interest in researching and discovering new processes to find innovative solutions for current sustainable issues. Yuqian’s work aims to tackle the issue of waste materials that are currently polluting the environment.

EcoDeco is a sustainable and innovative home décor research institute that recycles household waste (eggshells, expired eyeshadows, etc.) into unique and environmentally friendly home décor items.

EcoDeco gives a second life to expired eyeshadows and eggshells, creating a new range of soft and hard home décor materials. Eco Deco allows each user to customise their own unique eggshell home furnishing piece by choosing the color and material texture on the website.

The patterns are inspired by the woven patterns of traditional home decor from the 60's and the interesting way women used eye shadow. Each home furnishing item has its own label showing its carbon footprint and environmental impact, encouraging consumers to make environmentally conscious choices.
