Floria's creations are inspired by subtle things, emotions, and relationships through observing and thinking of the surrounding. This allows her to constantly explore the connection between her role as a communicator and an artist, with this world. Supporting by observation, she engages well in using metaphor and imagination, so that she is able to create stories that always come with a surreal outcome. Art becomes a way for her to communicate with the world, express feelings and show her unique perspective.

Stop motion is her expertise, she is keen on giving life to lifeless objects and exploring different materials and textures with animation. She is planning to further develop the skills of lighting and puppet-making in stop motion that can create a dreamy and grotesque atmosphere.

During her studies at the Royal College of Art, Floria explored many new areas which she believed will support her creative practice in the future, such as mix-media, 2D frame by frame, expressing strong emotions with abstract elements and content, narrative-based animation with first-person perspective narration… She constantly explores different themes and challenges herself in applying new ways of telling stories visually.

Project Description

‘Human Perfecting Program’ is a film about traditional education concepts and family relationships.

This story begins with an obedient child who grows up under the traditional education concept, she is taught by the adults to plant flowers while instilling their educational ideas and perceptions of the world. The child must obey what the parents said. As a result, the child grew up rebelliously, and adults regard this as wrong and correct the child by remoulding her towards the goal of "perfect", so the child is sent to the ‘human perfection project’ by adults, trying to remove the filth from the child.

Trailer of 'Human Perfecting Program' – Full film will be screening at 13rd-16th July, Trumans Brewery (91 Brick Lane, E1 6QR)
