CINCI XINQI WANG

Enter a realm where illusions merge with reality, a space that delves into the intricate dynamics of marriage and childbirth.

Welcome to "The Shell", a world where identities fade, and women transform into vessels, losing themselves in the process.

Here, existence lingers in a liminal state, suspended between parallel dimensions, bound by an unseen spell.

Transparent shells hold the profound symbiosis of life, entwining mothers and their growing children in a delicate entrapment.

Embark on a journey of untold narratives, exploring the complexities of love, joy, and fear. Unveil the captivating tapestry of "Shell," where art intertwines with the human experience, provoking contemplation, challenge, and emancipation.

Gamophobia & Tokophobia among Chinese women

In traditional Chinese Confucian culture, fertility holds significant importance for women. However, many young women lack general knowledge of reproduction and fertility-related physiology and the means to educate themselves as mothers, leading to unexpected misfortunes. This project aims to explore the role of marriage and childbearing in transforming women's social identities, to understand better the experiences of women of childbearing age in China and to identify potential avenues of support and education. The findings will improve awareness of fertility-related issues among the population and inform strategies for addressing these challenges.

I aim to narrow down the deprivation of individuality and vitality in marriage and childbirth, and the De-emotionalised and dehumanised situation that those women suffered.

丧喜(SANGXI)means mournful wedding in Chinese, which points opposite towards a traditional ceremony concept 喜丧 (joyful funeral).
