An Xiang
Her work has centered on her relationship to her landlord and the flat she rented that was densely populated with his personal possessions. Through photography, she has attempted to play with the power dynamics of this relationship, staging photographs and intervening in these domestic spaces, with a view to utilizing photography as a weapon. She has employed a mix of analogue and digital formats and has begun to experiment with display, utilizing the OHP to enlarge photographs on notepaper and a monitor to display a flashing image that flits between the space itself and her interventions. It will be important for her to critically consider the role of photography in relation to the exploration of her subject matter going forward, especially with regard to the construction of images.
