Changming(Maggie) Sun

An interdisciplinary designer

She focuses more on the topic of nature and human society. Her work explores the balance between humans and the environment by integrating design, materials, mechanics and media. She believes that innovation comes from life and her design philosophy is to identify problems in daily life and use design thinking to give better solutions.

Her practice is about incorporating new technologies in her creations. Through the use of artificial intelligence, virtual reality and sensory interaction, she continues to explore interdisciplinary research methods to put creativity into practice.

"Social design is the act of using human creativity to explore solutions to various complex problems in society."

-Dr. Yusuke Kakei, Japanese social designer

Although I do not work in the field of social design, this quote has inspired me greatly. Throughout my design practice over the years, I have become more inclined to identify problems and solve them through research and observation.

In my point of view, the survival and development of human beings are dependent on a sound social system and a good ecological environment. As a designer, we need to start from the subtle points. find and explore the problems of society in a small way, and use design as a means to provide a better solution.

About

With economic development, the role of flowers in people's lives is gradually changing from a luxury item to a daily necessity. Flowers bring beauty and warmth to people's hearts, but at the industrial level, they bring darkness and harm. The massive emissions and pollution from the flower industry and the irreversible physical damage caused to workers are the ugliness that lies beneath the beautiful facade.

Anthroplower uses Cinema4D and Unreal Engine5 as the medium through surrealistic set construction and inverted narrative. Critiquing of the theme of 'human as fertiliser for flowers'. Raising thoughts and concerns about the situation of flower farmers in the industry, it promotes better working conditions for the workers in the flower industry and focuses on energy saving and emission reduction in the industry itself.

Part 1

This is a flower farm with a variety of beautiful flowers.

What a harmonious and welcoming place with flowers, haylofts, irrigation machines and factories.

The sun shines on the flowers, warm and beautiful.

But what is floating in the sky?

Part 2
