My name is Chang Guo. I'm an animator and illustrator from China and I studied digital media art before I starting my MA in Animation. I enjoy building imaginative worlds and creating stories with 2D digital animation, stop motion, zines and all funny art forms. I tend to use vivid colors and poetic expressions in my works. I hope what I create can provide people a soft and warm space, can bring them inner peace and joy. I love to observe plants and animals, and love to collect any funny little things in life, as I think details in everyday life can be my important source of inspirations. My works mainly focused on nature, life, time and people's emotion. Recently I have been experimenting with different materials like fabrics and clays, to make my works more diverse and playful.

"Blossom" is my graduation project. It's a three minute animation using mixed media. I mainly combine 2D animation with physical materials including clays, papers, fabrics and cotton.

There is an idiom of Buddhism: “ To see a world in a wild flower, and a bodhi in a leaf ” , which expresses that a universe exists in every tiny flower.

The ordinary and subtle things are the microcosm of nature. From an ordinary individual life, we can see the vitality of the whole species and the whole world. Every tiny life has enormous power.

I use four seasons as the timeline. “Circle” is my main element to connect different parts in film, it stands for seed, cell and loop. The film start from the blooming of a flower in spring. Cells inside the flower start their journey in summer and they turn into different creatures, from small insect to giant whale. The last two seasons show the short life of human and the birth of new life. After winter, the snow finally turn into seeds, return to the soil, and becoming flowers again in spring, which forms a loop.
