Bing Ling
Bing Ling is a weaver from China, whose personal practice centers around the traditional Chinese craft of bamboo weaving. She expresses her admiration for the group of people in southern China who rely on bamboo weaving as a means of supporting their families, using out of loom techniques. Bing's grandmother was one such artisan who spent most of her life weaving bamboo baskets and selling them. To Bing, this seemed like a repetitive and dull job. However, her grandmother persevered for decades, leading Bing to realize that craftspeople of this kind possess great patience and are truly admirable. As such, Bing hopes to use her personal practice to improve and promote the traditional craft of bamboo weaving, making it more relevant to the aesthetic and lifestyle preferences of contemporary youth.
