Statement

Most of the inspiration in my practice comes from my daily life. I focus on the materials that surround us, the materials and substances that make up everything around us.
This project links materials science, jewellery, ceramics and textiles with a focus on interdisciplinary design and material innovation. Through the use of recycled, regenerative and sustainable textile and ceramic materials, new models for jewellery and sculptural work are explored.
The clothes we throw away in a year
"In fact, about 12% of our wardrobe is unused, and in some cases it can even rise to 40%" Woodward
Most people regularly sort through and discard their clothes. People throw away clothes that are piled up in the depths of their wardrobes and at the bottom of their drawers, clothes that they don't like, haven't worn in a long time, are out of fashion or have never been worn.
In the ceramics and jewellery industry, if a product is rough or not smooth. People are often reluctant to buy it. In the ceramics industry between 7% and 10% of ceramics are wasted. They are classified as defective because they have uneven surfaces, bubbles, scratches or roughness.
Are our perceptions of design materials and forms too traditional?
