Yuan

Yuan (Yanzhen Xiao) ( b.1999, China ) is a visual artist focused on exploring intimacy. Photography for me is a process of the constant pursuit of memories and self-healing, looking for commonalities through constantly analysing oneself and observing others.

1

An exploration of intimacy and subtle emotions that are difficult to describe precisely. People are so close but cannot fully understand each other.

Untitled 1
Everytime I had face time with my grandmother, she always asked me one question first ‘Why are you crying?’. But my answer can't be heard because she's deaf.
Untitled 2
The inner world of contemporary people is like a container, and getting along with people is like the collision of two glasses, isolated and closed.
Untitled 3
That's why we contact others in order to get rid of this lonely state, but can never explore the other's heart, do with something like a futile, warm, lonely effort.
