Wenhui Nie聂闻徽

Wenhui Nie (b.1999, China) is a contemporary artist whose works explore the intersection of animality and humanity, often depicts particular scenes of interior and exterior landscapes with light color and uncanny composition. The undergraduate painting courses laid a solid foundation for her material application ability and techniques in contemporary art creation. She intends to recreate the state of randomness and be mindful about the tension in the painting.

Animals have been a consistent focus in my artistic journey, as I believe they are evolving alongside us, becoming our kindred spirits. Within my work, I utilize animals as powerful symbols of individual identity, blending them with emotive imagery within enigmatic and mysterious spaces. Drawing upon my understanding of nature, I reconstruct animal figures to convey a deeper meaning.

Inspiration derived from the intricate connections between the natural world and humanity fuels my creative process. I explore the interplay between animal and human nature, often depicting scenes that merge interior and exterior landscapes within uncanny compositions. Maintaining a sense of randomness, I strive to cultivate emotional and formal tension in my paintings. Through contemplation of the relationship between humans and animals, I embark on a journey of self-expression as an artist, seeking to convey my authentic self.

My work aims to achieve a harmonious synthesis of form and emotion, blending reality with inner subjectivity. In my latest series of paintings, I reimagine captive animals, constructing an imaginary habitat where they can interact freely. Employing playful narrative techniques, I navigate philosophical metaphors with a lighthearted and relaxed approach, inviting viewers to join me in exploring profound concepts.
