Minxi Chen

Minxi Chen is an artist from China whose works interpret reflections on food, feminism, and consumerism through forms such as photography, performance, and moving image.

She believes that food symbolizes culture, identity, and community. Through her artistic creations, she explores the relationships between food and personal identity, social relations, and the environment. She focuses on the production and consumption of food, as well as their impact on our social relationships.

Moreover, in her previous projects, she has frequently addressed themes of feminism and consumerism. She endeavors to employ artworks as platforms for showcasing and discussing issues concerning women's bodies, power, and freedom.

Interstice is an ongoing and year-long video project about having dinner with father.

Interstice is an ongoing and year-long video project about having dinner with father. It is currently 38 minutes long and documents our weekly dinners. Starting from the childhood dinner table argument with her father, artist try to reconstruct an intimate relationship with him through an online dinner, reflecting on the impact of the one-child policy on families and the perceived differences between intergenerational relationships under the rapid development of Chinese society in the last 20 years.
