Driven by the belief that there are no set rules in the art of making, Lois seeks inspiration from various fields of construction, from cabinetmaking to building. She wonders if the techniques used to construct larger objects can be applied to her jewellery, pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

Inspired by the installation of windows in buildings, Lois sees parallels between this process and stone setting. Just as windows require the right frame to secure them, she understands the delicate dance between the stone and its setting structure. Meticulous attention to detail, a deep understanding of materials, and an aesthetic eye are necessary to achieve a perfect equilibrium, where the stone shines while the setting complements and elevates its presence.

Drawing from contemporary architecture, Lois explores unconventional angles, shapes, and structures in her stone settings. Stones need not always face upward; they can be displayed from the side or underneath and set at different angles. Rejecting traditional rules, Lois carves into the stone itself to create the fitting structure, considering it an integral part of the design.

In her collection, Lois incorporates elements reminiscent of scaffolding, beams, and industrial structures to set stones at varying angles. By utilising the unique properties of smoky quartz, she achieves a gradient effect resembling dawn. The geometric cuts of baguette stones enhance their shine, supported by stainless steel structures that benefit the wearer.

In a world dominated by mass production, Lois is dedicated to preserving the artistry of handmade jewellery. Each piece she creates is infused with intention, skill, and a profound appreciation for the art form.
