Fangxinyue Wang

Fangxinyue Wang (b.1997, China), currently studying and living in London.

Fangxinyue is a visual artist, interested in myth, fairy tales and surrealism. Fangxinyue draws inspiration from music, toys, and her dreams. She makes the props (some which have a childlike quality) with which she constructs the photographic image. Childhood items often evoke memories of innocence and pleasure. She attempts to embrace irrational and complex adult emotions from the point of view of a child.

In 2023, she self published her first handmade pop-up zine “Unrequited love” for Offprint at Tate Modern London.

Gummy bears are dreaming

All the heavy musings, all the chaotic experiences, become light and transparent in a dream. They turn into drops of water, into feathers, into bubbles, and then rise and fall.

A praxinoscope.
When people spin it, the picture inside will be animated and they can see bubbles rising and falling.
