Statement

Yangpeng Zhou primarily employs printmaking and installation in his artistic endeavors, focusing on the interconnectedness between living beings and their surrounding environments. In his current artistic practice, he places great emphasis on the significance of humour and its impact.

The show contains one of his ongoing projects that explores the themes of dissection and alienation through an examination of pigs. This is done through a series of tableaux setups using painted casts and found objects.

The project initially delves into ideas of a speculative future, involving xenotransplantation of pig hearts to save human patients with heart diseases. Through several installations, he aims to convey the connections between animal parts and their new surroundings, symbolizing the negotiation and similarities between humans and animals under our inevitable fate.
