Wenzheng Xia

Wenzheng Xia (b.2000) is a photographic artist from China, currently studying at the Royal College of Art. He received his BFA in Photography from the Beijing Film Academy in 2022. He sees photography as a way to capture reality. Through a focus on the everyday, and an abstraction of the metaphor of the figurative, and the flow of time in the analogue and darkroom. He tries to use poetic image language to peel off the gap between reality and fiction, reflect on the relationship between people and space, and discover the intense hidden under the calm reality.

His works have been exhibited in Chengdu Contemporary Image Museum, Zhejiang Art Museum, Three Shadows Photography Art Center, and Beijing Film Academy Gallery.

Wenzheng Xia was recently selected to be part of the Travers Smith CSR Art Programme 2023/24
