Peiyan Xu

Peiyan Xu is a multidisciplinary designer based in London and Shanghai. His background and areas of expertise involve graphic design and game design.

His creative approach focuses on critical design that investigates and reflects on technological issues. Through visual communication experiments, he aims to create impactful works that provoke audiences to think about the relationship between technology and society, and promote meaningful dialogue to affect change. This includes adopting a post-humanist perspective exploring the relationship between entropy of information and artificial intelligence.

Mirror Space

This work explores the relationship between information entropy and artificial intelligence from a posthumanist perspective. Through the work, I hope that its audience will rethink the potential impact of artificial intelligence on human cognition and ideology in the information age, as well as the possibility of integration between humans and artificial intelligence.

Presented as a digital game and virtual world, the project creates an intelligent brain ascombined withrtificial intelligence and human beings. It delves into the problems brought about by the chaos of information in modern society, considers how artificial intelligence changes human cognition and ideology, and inspires the audience to think about the information explosion era and possible directions for solutions.

In collaboration with a partner from the fashion industry, we invite you to join us in this thought-provoking experience. Let’s collectively contemplate how to deal with the chaos of information and achieve a more meaningful and beneficial information society.



 
The game's setting allows players to interact with this entry into the world with the option to 3D scan the player's face and facially capture it to form a unique non-meta human, choosing to enter the world with a clothing line belonging to that character. In NPC interactions, ai-trained language models are inserted to allow conversational communication with the character and to explore the post-human civilization system in depth.

The first level of the world is surrounded by a mirror world (a self-similar loop), the entire shape of which is dominated by the stepped spiral structure of the Möbius ring, ending in a pyramidal electronic tombstone symbolizing the power structure at the end of the path. This is the passage before people join the cluster and the meeting point for people to upload their consciousness, at the end of which they then enter an interactive gateway passage to the post-human world.

In this space people choose to upload their consciousness and merge with AI, The first layer of the world mechanism is controlled by artificial intelligence programs, an important milestone in the transition of human civilisation from an all-entity to a new age of artificial intelligence. The box left various information about human beings.

When the Homo sapiens generates a fractal world, humans gradually integrate into the Homo sapiens and become part of it, and the human form gradually evolves towards neurons. Homo sapiens provides people with accurate and effective information, thus resisting the effects of information entropy and establishing a fractal ordered world.

At the end of the game, the essential problem of the world is shown, revealing that the increase in information entropy has not been substantially solved. Despite the ever-growing amount of information data being processed behind the brain, it may one day collapse, revealing the chaotic and high information entropy aspect behind it.

This layer of constructive logic is based on the chaos and disorder of the universe. This presentation aims to alert the audience to the information explosion and to consider the relationship between artificial intelligence and the increase of information entropy and their impact on society, individuals and ideologies.
