"Symbiosis Series: The Journey of Picking up Branches" is a poetic narrative film composed of three segments: "The Insects Disguised as Branches", "The Game of Hand Catapult" and "The Poem Ode to the Oak". It takes the theme of tree branches as a clue to reflect on the symbiotic relationship between humans and nature. From fear and awe towards nature, to understanding the dynamics of domination and subordination between humans and nature, and ultimately realizing that as a woman, I am nature itself because women and nature share a subordinate position within patriarchal social structures. It combines the perspectives of eco-feminism, linking ecological issues with gender and even colonial issues, to reflect on the power structures within human society and the power dynamics between humans and nature.

"Symbiosis Series: Planting an Unknown Tree" comprises instructional texts for AI-generated photography, AI photography presented through a slide projector, shattered 3D-printed sculptures (designed by AI), and fragmented tree branches. Inspired by the feminist science fiction novel "The Woman on the Edge of Time," it proposes a semi-finished societal blueprint that embraces androgyny, the integration of humans and animals, and the utilization of natural energy. However, it critically presents AI visual products based on binary human societal history, aiming to challenge and deconstruct the social landscapes offered by future technologies. It invites viewers to imagine a symbiotic future, leaving room for interpretation.

"Onychophagia" is a moving image composed of memory fragments and narrative monologues, showing the artist's non-linear reflection on the physical act of "nail biting" through a linear recalling approach - the nail-biting behavior gives the body neurological feedback, which influences the generation and expression of consciousness over time, and consciousness in turn recoils from the body's perception of the nail-biting behavior, fermenting into an embodied relationship with interactions through unpredictable factors faced during different stages of growth. By revealing these complicated and multidimensional internal and external factors, such as childhood memories, family of origin, and identity awareness, a reflection is made on the patriarchal ideology that shapes body shame and squeezes the space for self-growth.

The Symbiosis Series

The Symbiosis Series consists of two parts: the first part is a moving image “The Journey of Picking up Branches” and the second part is an AI photography and 3D printing installation called "Planting an Unknown Tree." It approaches the correlation between the power dynamics within human society and the relationship between humans and nature from an ecofeminist perspective. It observes and reflects on the societal structures influenced by logocentrism while proposing possibilities for a "better future."
